British authorities say İstanbul attractive location for Olympics
  ISTANBUL - 26.04.2012 17:40:50
British sports authorities have said İstanbul can serve as an attractive location for the Olympics.

British Minister of Sport and the Olympics Hugh Robertson told the Anatolia news agency on Thursday that İstanbul is an extremely attractive location for the Olympic Games.

Robertson said İstanbul's history is older than many British cities and added that it is an excellent international city, which is also a bridge between Europe and Asia.

"The International Olympic Committee should be convinced that Turkey could host the Olympic Games," Robertson said.

Moreover, Paul Deighton, an executive of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), said he would like to watch the Olympic Games in İstanbul one day. Deighton described İstanbul as a perfect venue to host the Olympics.

İstanbul is competing with Tokyo, Madrid, Doha and Baku to host the 2020 Summer Olympics. The winning bid will be announced on Sept. 7, 2013.
